Saving costs with multitenancy and cloud services

Find me on:

Want to reduce costs with multitenancy software? Here's how you do it! The term multitenancy describes the process of running multiple clients operated by one single software instance. In this case each customer within the network of a service provider has the ability to be run from one single server without seeing data from other end users or customers on the same instance. This enables Service Providers and Resellers to keep their costs low without reducing the level of service or security. Sounds complicated? Keep on reading.

A blessing for Service Providers

From a customer's perspective it might not be that important. Bottom line, all you care about is a seamless service and the protection of your data integrity. For Service Providers however this mode of operation is absolutely crucial. To protect margins and to keep costs of UCaaS as low as possible multitenancy is the right addition for the portfolio. With just one single server for multiple customers the investment into infrastructure and maintenance is reduced tremendously. But not only Service Provider benefit from this set up but also large hospital organisations that run one single communication infrastructure are able to run an entire network from one single instance without buying hard and software for each of the branches for example. Even when running the system redundant with high availability the costs are kept as low as possible.

Multitenancy and Unified Communication

But what does multitenancy mean in combination with Unified Communications? We live in a time where many customers and end users think about outsourcing their entire Unified Communication services and needs to external and centralized providers. This allows them to focus on their core competences and reduces the investment in IT infrastructure and know-how. This fact is fuelling a whole industry that is focusing on providing software that meets the needs of service providers. However, thinking that only the service experience is driving this shift that we see with UC today is probably wrong. Many smaller companies and end users simply do not have the capacity to guarantee the operation of their software and securing their data. At the end of the day it is a win-win-situation for providers that can reduce costs and customers which benefit from a new service level and flexibility.

So where does it make sense to use multitenancy software? Well, basically anywhere where end users see a benefit especially when moving services to the cloud. Multitenancy for example in combination with attendant consoles or attendant solutions give Service Providers the chance to enhance their portfolio.
